The Dolls of the World line is a collection of Barbie dolls that began in 1980 and featured dolls in folk costumes or other traditional outfits from countries around the world. The Dolls of the World line continued until 2014.
Like the Holiday Barbie series, the Dolls of the World dolls were intended more for display and collectible purposes than to play with, so the dolls are often found in their original boxes. The back of each box has information about the customs and traditions of the country featured as well as other interesting facts.
Throughout the years, many countries were featured more than once and feature different styles or traditions in each series.
